10 Laws of Health:

There are many ways of practicing the art of healing, but there is only one that Heaven approves of.  The simple remedies of God do not tax or debilitate the human organism by their natural laws. These laws consist of Proper use of Sunlight, Seeded bearing fruit, the use of Fresh Air, use of Water, Trusting in God, Exercise, Temperance, Rest, Proper Dress and the Application of Principles of Hygiene in the use of these remedial agencies.

"Bind them always on your heart; fasten them around your neck.  When you walk, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; when you awake, they will speak to you.  For this command is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and correction and instruction are the way to life."  Proverbs 6:21-23  Note that just as the Decalogue was written by God on the stone tablets, the 10 laws of health are to be written on the tablets of the heart.  The law needs to penetrate our emotions, our morality and so be part of our intimate self.

Someone once asked: Is it a sin if I do not keep all of the laws of health?  Ceraainly not!  Nevertheless, if a father dies prematurely due to wrongful habits of eating, drinking, dressing and working, has he not in esseance robbed his children?  This is why the education of our children is so important.  For they would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law.  An example of this truth is that I would not have known what glutony was had it not been for the law of temperance.  If I do not tell my children and one of their precious souls is lost, they will want to bind my neck with it.

To tie the law around the neck also means that we should keep it close to ourselves.  Ancient people used to tie their precious belongings around their necks.  The neck is the place through which air travels to the lungs, allowing breath and life, an association of thoughts that is attested in the Hebrew word nephesh ("soul"), which refers to "life" and is derived from a word meaning "throat" and "breathing."

Proverbs 7:3 states "Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart."  To bind the law on one's fingers means to bring the law into the domain of actions.  The tracher focuses on the fingers to suggest the most delicate and intimate actions.  The law should affect not only the grand choices we make but the smaller ones as well.  "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much." Luke 16:10

Although the biblical intention of these images was purely symbolic, it is noteworthy that these symbols have been taken literally in Jewish, Christian and Muslim traditions.  It is seen through the use of the Jewish tefillin around the head and the fingers, the Christian crosses around the neck, the Muslim (and Christian) rosaries around the fingers.

Symbols can be helpful, but we must be careful not to mistake the symbol for the reality it represents.  Perfect health and mental clarity are dependent on perfect circulation, just as the issues of life are dependent on the blood arriving at its respective destinations and fulfilling its intended purposes. Therefore, as we cooperate with our Creator in taking care of the bodies loaned to us,  this is what connects the heights and expanse of the mind of God in us with the engraved purposes written on the depths of the soul.
